Then the dice is past to the players left for the next player. The player which rolls the dice, must place a bet on Pass Line or Don't Pass Line to be able to roll the dice. Players may place wagers on the table at any time and not be the shooter. Pass Line Bets are before thecome out roll. On theCome out roll, if the player rolls a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 this becomes the point. The point must be repeated in order to be a winner. On COME OUT ROLL(betting PassLine) if shooter rolls... 7 or 11 they WIN and are paid 1 to 1 2, 3 or 12 Bummer they lose. If a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 is rolled it becomes the point.
Shooter rolls until he repeats POINT win 1 to 1, then there's a new come out roll. If a SEVEN comes up all's lost! Any other number: Standoff, bet still on, roll again. Don't Pass Line Before come out roll. This type of bet is similar to "Pass line" bet, except that the outcome is opposite to Pass line bet and a roll of 12 is a standoff .On COME OUT ROLL, if shooter rolls... 2 or 3: win 1 to 1 7 or 11: lose 12: standoff, bet is still on, roll again 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10: POINT. Proceed to point roll below on POINT ROLL, if shooter rolls... 7: win 1 to 1 Repeat POINT: lose Any other number: standoff, bet is still on, roll again. That's very basic...Check below on this page about "THE ALMIGHT EQUILIZER" ODDS!!!

ANY CRAPS: a bet that the next roll will be 2, 3, or 12. This bet pays 7:1 and has a house edge of 11.1%.
ANY SEVEN: a bet that the next roll will be 7. This bet pays 4:1 and has a house edge of 16.7%.
BIG 6: a bet that a 6 will be rolled before a 7 comes up. This bet pays even money, and has a house edge of 9.1%. A place bet on 6 pays 7:6 but is identical otherwise. The place bet is preferred, having a house edge of 1.5%
BIG 8: a bet that an 8 will be rolled before a 7 comes up. This bet pays even money, and has a house edge of 9.1%. A place bet on 8 pays 7:6 but is identical otherwise. The place bet is preferred, having a house edge of 1.5%
BUY BET: giving the house a 5% commission in order to be paid correct odds for a place bet. The buy bets on 4 and 10 allow the player to reduce the house edge from 6.67% to 4% on these bets. Some casinos collect the commission only on winning bets, while others collect it at the time the bet is made.
COME BET: A "virtual pass line bet"; a bet made after the come out roll but in other respects exactly like a pass line bet.
COME OUT ROLL: the first roll of the dice in a betting round is called the "come out" roll. Pass bets win when the come out roll is 7 or 11, while pass bets lose when the come out roll is 2, 3, or 12. Don't bets lose when the come out roll is 7 or 11, and don't bets win when the come out roll is 2 or 3. Don't bets tie when the come out roll is 12 (2 in some casinos; the "bar" roll on the layout indicates which roll is treated as a tie).
DICE PASS: The dice are said to "pass" when the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 on the come-out roll. The dice "don't pass" when the shooter rolls a 2, 3, or 12 on the come-out. If the come-out roll is a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, this roll sets the "point", and the shooter continues to roll until the point is rolled again or a 7 is rolled (see "seven out"). If the shooter rolls the point before rolling a seven, the dice pass. If the shooter sevens out, the dice don't pass and the shooter loses control of the dice. NOTE: in this context, "pass" does NOT mean that the dice to given to the next player. Control of the dice is transferred only when the shooter "sevens out" or when the shooter has completed a game and no longer wishes to roll the dice.
DON'T COME BET: A "virtual don't pass bet"; a bet made after the come out roll but in other respects exactly like a don't pass bet.
DON'T PASS BET: a bet that the dice will not pass. This bet can be placed only immediately before a "come out" roll. One result (either the 2 or the 12, depending on the casino) will result in a push. House edge on these bets is 1.40%. A don't pass bet can be taken down, but not increased, after the come-out roll.
DOUBLE ODDS: an odds bet that is about twice as large as the original pass/come bet. Some casinos offer higher odds, such as 5X or even 10X odds.
FIELD BET: a bet that the next roll will be 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12. This bet pays even money for 3, 4, 9, 10, and 11, and usually pays 2:1 for 2 or 12. Some casinos pay 3:1 for either the 2 or 12 (but not both), and some casinos may make the 5 instead of the 9 a field roll.
HARD WAY: a bet on 4, 6, 8, or 10 that wins only if the dice show the same face; e.g., "hard 8" occurs when each die shows a four.
HOP BET: a bet that the next roll will result in one particular combination of the dice, such as 2-2 (called a "hopping hardway") or 3-5. 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, and 5-5 are paid the same as a one-roll 2; other hop bets are paid the same as a one-roll 11.
HORN BET: a bet that the next roll will be 2, 3, 11, or 12, made in multiples of 4, with one unit on each of the numbers.
LAY BET: a bet that a particular number (4,5,6,8,9, or 10) will NOT be rolled before a 7 comes up. The casino takes 5% of the winnings on these bets. The 5% commission is usually taken up front, but some casinos take the commission after the bet wins.
LAY ODDS: after a point has been established, the don't pass bettor can place an additional odds bet that will win if the original don't pass bet wins. The odds bet is paid at the correct odds for the point, and is a fair bet with no house edge. This also applies to a don't come bet. Making this bets is referred to "laying the odds" for your don't bet.
LINE BET: a bet on the "pass line" or the "don't pass line" is called a "line" bet. These bets are placed at the beginning of the game, before the "come out" roll. The shooter is required to make a line bet in order to shoot the dice
PASS BET: a bet that the dice will pass, also known as a "pass line" bet. This bet is generally placed immediately before a "come out" roll, although you can make or increase this bet at any time. House edge on this bets is 1.41%.
PLACE BET(to win): a bet that a particular number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) will be rolled before a 7 comes up. These bets are paid at slightly less than correct odds, giving the house an edge of 1.52% on 6/8, 4% on 5/9, and 6.67% on 4/10.
PLACE BET (to lose): a bet that a 7 will be rolled before the number you are placing (4,5,6,8,9, or 10) comes up. The casino requires you to lay slightly more than the correct odds, giving the house an edge of 3.03% on 4/10, 2.5% on 5/9, and 1.82% on 6/8. point if a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 is rolled on the come out roll, then this number becomes the "point". The shooter must roll the point again, before rolling a seven, in order for the dice to "pass". A "come point" is just the number that is serving as a point for a come bet.
RIGHT BETTER: a player who bets that the dice will pass.
SEVEN OUT: when the shooter rolls seven after a point has been established. Control of the dice is transferred to the next shooter. Another term for this is "miss out." This is often incorrectly called "crap out"
TAKE ODDS: after a point has been established, the pass/come bettor can place an additional odds bet that will win if the original pass/come bet wins. The odds bet is paid at the correct odds for the point, and is a fair bet with no house edge.
WORKING: bets that are "live" (i.e., can be resolved with the next roll) are said to be working. Generally, place bets, buy/lay bets, and come odds bets do not work on the come-out unless you tell the dealers to "make them work." All other bets (e.g., hardways) work unless you call them "off" (i.e., tell the dealers you do not want them to "work").
WRONG BETTER: a player who bets that the dice will not pass.
90 percent of all craps players are "right" betters. So, we will discuss a couple of my different betting systems.
Most books will tell you the smart play is Passline max odds, two comebets max odds. This gives the house the lowest edge, approx.0.6 on each bet. I do use this system alot but sometimes this can cost you a few "Ruppies" if the table is cold. You've seen it, you just establish your second comebet with odds and "7 line away", I hate to hear that! On cold tables try this until that Hotshoot is cookin'...
Method #1). Bet $5 passline. If a 6 or 8 is rolled place double odds ($12), 5 or 9 single odds ($5), 4 or 10 no odds. If the come out is 4,5,9,or10, place bet $12 on the 6 and 8. Stop betting. If either the 6 or 8 hit, bring both down. After 6 rolls, take odds off passline bet. If either 6 or 8 hits you win $14. If point is made before 6 rolls you win $19. If point is made after 6 rolls you win $5....Reasoning is...This gives you low risk with small safe bets and short duration of rolls because ,remember it's a cold table!
Method #2). After the come out roll, place bet the 6 and 8, $12 each, make no more bets. If either hits take winnings and reduce your bets to $6 each, play until both hit or 7 shows. Repeat on next come out roll...Reasoning is... If either hit you win $14 and with lowering your bets to $6, your risking $12, so at the worst you win $2, Whoopy!
I know this isn't big winnings on either of these methods but, when the table warms up you'll be there when others are tapped out. You can then move on to more aggressive betting...
Hotshoot betting systems.
1. The one system you see in most craps books for giving the house the lowest edge is the "three numbers working" system. This is pass line with at least double odds. Make two come bets, with odds and stop betting. When a comebet hits make another come bet with odds. Always keep three numbers working for you. If your table stays hot, you can make place bets. Only the 6 or 8, all other numbers give the house too big an edge. Make no other bets, field, center, etc. Stick to this plan!
2. This system I see alot and think it's too risky most times, but here it is. Make a passline bet, after the point is established take odds. ( some places now have 10 or even 100x odds so take what you can at least triple odds). Before the next roll, place 5,6,8,9. If the point is one of these numbers, buy the 10 or 4. Keep these numbers working and increase bets as the roll progresses. At some point YOU will need to decided it's time to take down your bets. Only your own gut feeling can make that decision for you. You feel that this roll is about to end and you want to save what you can. Hopefully it's been a good shoot ,say you've hit 6 or 7 numbers, it might be time to start cutting back.
HERE'S ANOTHER OPTION: Mode of Play: Strict follow-the-trend in order to position yourself to take advantage of any streaks. Do Play: By pass the come out. Place $30 each on the 6/8. $15 each on the 5/9. Take one hit on any number then regress. If the 6/8 hits regress to $34 inside - $12 ea. 6/8 and $5 ea. 5/9. If 5/9 hit first regress to $22 inside. Second hit on any number - turn bets off for a minimum of 2 rolls - wait to see if the shooter gets past the legendary five count and a streak develops. If yes, turn them back on and start a single unit press regime. Regress any bet that reaches 5 units after one hit at that level. Turn 'em off anytime you feel like it because ... after all ... I suffer from every superstition in the book. Don't Play: $15 DP. After getting up on a point play $10 DC. Pick the better of those two number and lay single odds, then play another $15 DC. If that bet moves to a "better" don't number, move my single odds to that one. Lay strategy. Hedge 6/8. Go bare on 5/9. Lay anywhere from 5X to 10X odds on the 4/10 - depending on house rules, session bankroll status, etc.
Knowing when to quit, is hard if not impossible to do. Just try to remember not to be greedy. Think, "well I've did pretty good off this shoot, I better cut and run". The other method is to stay in there and ride the shoot to the end. (which I usually do). Remember this above all else if you want to hold on to your winnings. There is usually only one hotshoot per session. If you are lucky enough to be in on it, that's great. That's what we all want. BUT when the shooter finally sevens out, LEAVE THE TABLE. Not following this strict rule is the downfall of most craps players. Don't let this happen to you! "HIT AND RUN", remember this phrase and live it!
Last Monday (August, 2007), Linda and I went to a local riverboat casino for a round of craps.Armed with $500 each, we laid our money down on the felt and instantly we had our checks (chips). The table was cookin'. The layout was a mosaic of different colored chips. Two guys at the other end were talking up the the field, "fields alive bet the five". I almost never play the field, but I do place numbers. Just then the shooter made his point "five"! I put $10 on pass and placed the 5,9,6 & 8, $10 on the 5&9 and $12 on 6 & 8. He started hitting 5 then 6 then 5 then 8. I was pressing the numbers. Then he hit his number 4. Oh yes, forgot I had double odds on the 4. Next come out "five". The two dudes at the other end were howling this "five alive" chant. Linda was playing similar to me just sometimes we had different place bets or size of odds. Also Linda plays the come bet more than me. Well, this went on for about 15 minutes. I had quit pressing place bets and when I hit one I'd bring it down. I don't know how many time the "five hit 10 or more, I guess. Finally, as is there want, the diced showed "seven line away." We both said "color in" and left the table. As we ALWAYS do after a hot shoot. Totals were: Linda's $500 buy in was now $875, mine was $985. Tipped the "boys" $10 each and left for a steak dinner. We weren't greedy, we knew we made good money for 15 minutes. Most important we took it home!
